Our Story
UniTerra grew out of the experience built by Consulligence, a Quebec company that has specialized since 2008 in selecting and importing precision agricultural equipment. With sales to hundreds of farmers and renewed confidence, the company took the next step, creating: UniTerra Solutions Inc., a new entity to deploy technologies across Canada, backed by a network of local partners and new branding.
UniTerra looks to the future, remaining rooted in the earth, yet open to the world, and is built on strong partnerships.

Jean-François Ridel
President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
A grain farmer himself and a graduate of engineering and automation from the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), Jean-François Ridel is the founder of UniTerra. He spent a decade in Japan, at the dawn of the widespread introduction of GPS technology in vehicles.
The family farm, Ferme Ridel, grows row crops (corn, wheat, soybeans, hemp, canola and beans) and was awarded the Bronze 2023 National Order of Agricultural Merit. Speaker on precision agriculture in Quebec and internationally, Jean-François is also active as President of the Union des Producteurs Agricoles (UPA) of Rouville.
Tom Ryan, P.eng.
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
A graduate of engineering from McGill University, Tom Ryan brings more than 35 years of experience in industrial processes, environmental services and clean technologies. He led SyENERGY Integrated Energy Solutions and the consulting firm Canadian CleanTech Climate Advisors. He spent 9 years as senior manager at one of the three Canadian Environmental Technology Advancement Centres and as a greenhouse gas auditor with Enviro-Access. He has managed major projects in China, the United States and Oceania. At UniTerra, he leads operations, imports and the distributor network.
